8月1日、ラオスとタイ間の鉄道による初めての越境貨物輸送が開始された。タイのレムチャバン港からタイ・ラオス国境のノンカイ駅を経由し、ラオスのビエンチャンにあるタナレーン駅に到達する。初回の貨物はラオス国内工場で使用するビール醸造用のモルト(麦芽)10コンテナだった。 ラオスとタイ間の鉄道を利用した貨物輸送は同国間の鉄道開通してから10年を要した。 貨物輸送はこれまでの客車に貨車を接続した混成列車で運行する。コンテナは20フィート、40フィートの取り扱いを可能としている。現行は1日2往復で、タイ発が7時半と14時45分、ラオス発が10時と17時半で運行される。
