According to the trade statistics (preliminary report) released by the Ministry of Finance, the trade balance in the first half of 2019 (Jan-June) was a deficit of JPY888.8 billion for the second consecutive quarter. Exports to China began to decline for the first time in five quarters compared to the same period last year, and were affected by the prolonged US-China trade friction.
