今夏の暑さで北極海航路開通期間が過去最長　The heat of this summer records the longest opening period of the NSR

ウェザーニューズによると、 ロシア側の北極海航路の開通期間が過去最長となる88日間に達した。今夏の記録的な暑さによって、ロシア近海を中心とした海域の海氷が例年以上に顕著に融解したことによる。アジアから欧州へ航行する場合、北極海航路を選択することで、輸送費用とCO2の排出量を削減できることから、2020年は世界で1003隻の貨物船による通航申請がロシア当局にあったという。北極海航路では近年、北極海で生産された液化天然ガスのLNG船による輸送が活発になっているほか、「定常的な利用」も進んでいる。アジアから欧州へ航行する場合、北極海航路の航路距離はスエズ運河経由の3分の2、喜望峰経由のおよそ半分となる。

According to Weathernews, the opening period of the Northeast Passage on the Russian side has reached 88 days, the longest ever. The record heat of this summer caused the sea ice in the waters near Russia to melt more significantly than usual. When sailing from Asia to Europe, choosing the Northeast Passage can reduce transportation costs and CO2 emissions, so in 2020, the Russian authorities had applied for passage by 1003 freighters worldwide. In recent years, liquefied natural gas produced in the Arctic Ocean has been actively transported by LNG carriers on the NSR, and "steady use" is also progressing. When navigating from Asia to Europe, the NSR will be two-thirds via the Suez Canal and approximately half via the Cape of Good Hope.
